Night by night inside hidden juke joints, a tight circle of Chicago kinfolk records the stories, scars, and songs that might vanish with them—an intimate audio chronicle of community, continuity, and the cost of losing the blues.
Terry is a Chicago-based audio documentarian whose work explores the intersections of music, memory, and community. Working with oral histories, field recordings, and original music, he creates immersive sound portraits that preserve Black cultural life in the Midwest and beyond. His award-winning projects have been recognized internationally for their blend of storytelling and heritage preservation. Blade’s latest work, Chicago Kinfolk: The Juke Joint Blues, documents the voices and spaces of Chicago’s underground blues tradition, framing them as living archives of resilience and kinship.
