Director -Fabio Thieme
Fabio is an auteur filmmaker and director for film & theater. He completed studies in Rome and Berlin and is now studying directing at the HfS Ernst Busch Berlin. His films, which he also produced himself with his film production „Serkalo“, received awards at international film festivals. His work often deals with pretense, imitation and forgery as an act of creation.
The film is based on a dream my sister once had: I turn into a monkey and she has to take me to a zoo. This surreal moment is translated into a digital visual language that strangely overlaps with our early childhood memories: somewhere between intimacy and alienation, memory and transformation, video games and glitches.
The project focuses on glitches—those unpredictable moments when software accidentally creates something surreal or dreamlike. Instead of correcting these “errors,” I embraced them as conscious narrative and aesthetic choices.
On a personal level the film deals with loss and grief – and what happens if someone you love changes, may it be through a sickness, alienation or turning into a monkey.
